Pantry Ingredients for Plant-Based Cooking

Setting up your pantry with the right ingredients makes plant-based cooking easier, more delicious, and more nourishing.

Shelf-Stable Ingredients

Pantry items that make plant-based cooking easier and yummier.

Oils, Fats & Plant Milks

A few useful oils and plant-based milks to keep on hand. If you are oil-free, simply skip the oils.

Spices & Condiments

The flavor-makers that make plant-based cooking delicious. Most are easily found at local stores.

Refrigerator & Fresh Ingredients

Keep plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits and aromatics on hand.

And TOFU!

Don’t forget tofu! You need extra firm and silken. Great soy-free options are available too.

Okay… those are the dry goods we like to keep in our pantry. But what about the refrigerator? Nothing too complicated here! The more vegetables and fruits you stock up on, the happier your gut will be. And learning how to cook all these new-to-you vegetables is part of the fun. It’s exciting, it’s an adventure, and it’s a wonderful way to explore new flavors! I do recommend always keeping plenty of onions on hand. They create amazing flavor when caramelized! And, of course, don’t forget potatoes, fresh garlic, fresh ginger, and a few fresh lemons. Other than that, all vegetables are welcome, especially when they’re in season. And TOFU! Don’t forget the tofu! Trust me… you really do like it! 😊 You’ll want to have both extra-firm and silken tofu on hand because they’re used in different ways. If you don’t eat soy for any reason, you can try fava bean tofu or Pumfu, a pumpkin seed-based tofu. You can find them at many health food stores, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Mom’s Organic Market. And as I think of other things that belong on this list, I’ll add them! This is all about discovering new ingredients, trying new things, and having fun along the way. Browse my Amazon store to find links to products I use. I make a commission from these items, but to you the price remains the same. This supports me and allows me to provide you with the best, most up-to-date information.
